The Jump from the Rhine Falls is the most spectacular photo of the world

The picture of a young man, jumping from the so-called “Känzeli” into the Rhine Falls was voted the most spectacular photo of the world by the private TV channel Pro7.

Michael Lio took photographs for the book «Der Rheinfall» the largest waterfall in Europe, in 2005. On 255 pages the book illustrates currents, tumults and reflections. It was published in 2006 by the Schaffhausen Museum zu Allerheiligen. The «Känzeli Jump» into the Rhine Falls has been immortalised therein on a double-page spread.

The museum is pleased about the award for the photograph by the private channel on 1st May 2009. On the Internet platform «Youtube» not only the sequence from the programme «Galileo - Big Pictures» can be seen. In the accompanying comments one of the attendees informs that his brother was the jumper on the photograph. In summer it is common to jump: six metres below the «Känzeli» the masses of Rhine water churn up, that have just thundered down into the depths.
